The City of Mandurah Story One Place, Many Voices – Emphasising the shared heritage and collective spirit behind the piece. This vibrant artwork is the result of a community art project commissioned by the City of Mandurah, where hundreds of community members came together to contribute during a special activity on Australia Day, 2025. Designed to connect our community, the event celebrated Mandurah's deep history. Facilitated by renowned local artist Deborah Bonar, the artwork blends contemporary painting techniques with inspiration from her Gija and Yamaji heritage and the weaving together of cultures, histories, and people. This artwork stands as a powerful symbol of unity and shared heritage, capturing the essence of Mandurah; a city woven by waterways and deeply connected to its people and place. It serves as a reminder that we are all part of the story, honouring a love of country and the many voices that shape it. More than just a painting, the piece embodies the collective spirit of Mandurah; a city with a village heart.

Aboriginal Art Vibrant Mix Workshops - Department of Communities
During the Department of Communities Aboriginal Employment Network National Conference Forum at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle Deborah Bonar spoke about her art practice and her artwork. Two painting sessions were held on the 12 & 13 November 2024 with Deborah Bonar where the participants had the opportunity to create their very own artwork painting Aboriginal designs and symbols onto canvas.
Deborah has facilitated corporate Aboriginal Art Workshops on-site at the Fremantle and Perth (Walyalup and Boorloo) office locations for the Department of Communities staff to created their own individual artwork during NAIDOC Week.

The Spectacles Wetlands Ancient trade routes follow the freshwater lakes through the wetlands. In Perth, the beautiful Swan River winds through the city.
